Compassion Camp

This year's Vacation Bible School/Summer Camp at Northwest UMC is Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs. It is open to age 3 (must be potty-trained) to those completing 5th grade. Those in 4th and 5th grade will be in Mini Missions which includes special mission projects that will take them off site. 

Here is the key information:

Dates: June 14-17

Times: Compassion Camp programming will be from 6-8 p.m. Sign in for the evening begins at 5:45. Pick up is promptly at 8 p.m. On Wednesday evening, we will have a family time beginning at 7:45 that will include the kids sharing some of our week and ice cream sundaes for the whole family.

Dinner: We will offer an optional dinner before VBS. Dinner will be served from 5:15-5:45 so the people can be done eating by the time camp starts at 6 p.m. Please note that an adult must be present with children during dinner time. Our volunteers are not responsible for your children until camp children are signed in, which will begin at 5:45.

Menu:
Sunday - Walking Tacos
Monday - Brown Bag Dinner (we will be learning about our Brown Bag Lunch Ministry)
Tuesday - Chicken Nuggets and Mac and Cheese
Wednesday - Breakfast for dinner

Each night will also have water, fruit, veggies, and cookies, except the last night where we will save dessert for our family time at the end of the evening.

Compassion Camp Information

Our theme is Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs. Each evening we will begin together in a large group with an introduction and music, then small groups will have stations including Bible story, Movement and Recreation, Create and Play, and Compassion in Action/Garden time. Each day with have a focus theme:

  •  Sunday, June 14: Every Living Thing Needs Shelter
  • Monday, June 15: Every Living Thing Needs Food
  • Tuesday, June 16: Every Living Thing Needs Water
  • Wednesday, June 17: Every Living Thing Needs Community

Mini Missions

Students who have just completed 4th or 5th grade are invited to our mini missions week. They will be taking trips for hands on learning about the same topics our younger kids are learning about. Projects will include a downtown tour, garden time, a trip to the Dublin Food Pantry, and bingo at Friendship Village.
