Loved by God, we find belonging in community and purpose in loving the world.
Our Mission and Vision
At Northwest, we believe that our identity begins as people loved by God. Everyone is God's beloved child. We believe people are created to be in community and that we find belonging when we share our lives with each other. We do our best to live out what Jesus called the greatest commandments: to love God with all that we are and to love others as ourselves. We find our purpose when we begin to love the world as Jesus does, serving our neighbors and seeking justice where it does not yet exist. We aren't perfect, but we are following Jesus the best way we know how.
Welcoming Statement
Following the example of Jesus Christ, we commit to welcoming all people without judgment. Each of us comes to God in the same way; unconditionally loved and accepted. We are a community of people on a shared journey of faith, none of us perfect, and we firmly believe that we are better together than on our own. We affirm that all people are worthy of God’s love and grace, for all are created in the divine image and called “children of God” without exception.
Therefore, at Northwest United Methodist Church, we welcome all. We will not judge or exclude others based on physical or mental ability, race, nationality, theology, orientations, gender, political views, age, class, traditions or anything else that might otherwise divide us.
We recognize there are differences among us; yet we believe that even though we may not think alike, we can love alike. We especially proclaim this statement of welcome to any who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination and offer a place of respite and inclusion. As beloved people of God, we invite everyone to join us on this journey of reconciliation toward greater love, understanding and respect.
Anti Racism Statement
Racism is the opposite of what God intends for humanity. It is the rejection of the other, which is entirely contrary to the Word of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. Racism is a lie about our fellow human beings, for it says that some are less than others. Because of our biblical understanding of who God is and what God intends for humanity, Northwest United Methodist Church is committed to standing against, speaking against, and working against racism.
