Celebrate the resurrection at Northwest this Easter! As part of our Easter celebration, we will host an Easter Egg hunt on Sunday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m. (between services). Use the button to find more information.
Easter Worship
This year Easter is on Sunday, April 20. Our celebration begins with the Sunrise Service at 6:45 a.m. on the north end of the property around the fire pit. This simple service will be led by Pastor Mebane McMahon. We will continue celebrating the resurrection with our regular Sunday morning services at 9:30 in the Sanctuary and online and at 11:00 in the Ministry Center and online. Pastor Chris Rinker will share the message at both services with nursery care and small groups for children and youth during the services. A simple breakfast will be available in the Hall from 9-11 a.m. All are welcome!
Lent and Holy Week
Lent is the season leading up to Easter. It began on Ash Wednesday and continues through Holy Week, the week before Easter. Here is information about the events that lead up to our Easter Celebrations.
Lent Series
We began this year with a series about The Light that Loves as we considered the ways that Christ’s love is shared in the world. This Lent we transition that series into the Love that Transforms. God’s love does not leave us where it found us; instead we are transformed through Christ as we begin to turn away from the things of this world and toward God.
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday (April 13) worship will be at the regular times, 9:30 in the Sanctuary and online and 11:00 in the Ministry Center and online. Pastor Mebane McMahon will share the message. We will also have an egg hunt for the children in between services (around 10:30 a.m.) on the north end of our property near the Northwest Children’s Garden.
Holy Thursday
Holy Thursday is April 17. We will gather for a Love Feast meal in the Ministry Center at 6:30 p.m. This is a simple meal around tables as we remember together the last meal Jesus shared with the disciples before the crucifixion. Following the meal, there will be a simple service starting at 7:15. Nursery care will be available. The service will be livestreamed starting at 7:15. All are welcome!
Good Friday
We continue through Holy Week with a service on Good Friday (April 18) as we reflect on the crucifixion. Pastor Steve Harsh will share a message and the service will include special music from the choir. This service will be at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary and online with nursery care available for those in the building. All are welcome.
Easter Cantata
The Sunday after Easter, April 27, will be our annual Easter cantata sharing the story of Holy Week and Easter. This year’s cantata is titled Upon This Rock: The Passion, the Question, the Call by Pepper Choplin. This cantata focuses on Peter’s experience with Christ and calls us to ask the same questions he faced: “What is your call? What is your passion?”
The cantata will be performed at Northwest on Sunday, April 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Ministry Center. For that Sunday only, the 11:00 Gathering service will be held in the Sanctuary. All are welcome!
